Top Data Recovery Programs

Below I have tested and reviewd some of the top data recovery programs. You should also find out what to look for in a good data recovery program

Data Recovery Pro by ParetoLogic                                        System: PC

It is very easy to use and install. It is backed by excellent customer support. The user interface is well laid out, allowing you to find all the functions quickly. The software provided simle step-by-step instructions so someone with little to no technical experience can use it. The scanning is relatively quick. Usually programs like this can't recover all of your files, and this is no exception, however it still is able to recover more than just about all the other programs. Download a Trial of Data Recovery Pro

Recover Lost Data by StompSoft

This program performs scans pretty quickly. It is easy to use and the tech support is very helpful and quick to respond. This software has the ability to find and recover a lot of lost programs. Overall it's a good program if you want to recover files that were deleted by accident,  because of a power outage, virus, etc. However you might want to look elsewhere if your files were lost due to a more serious problem

Mediatools Professional by ProSoft Engineering

This program is the most loaded. It scans you disk quickly and is very easy to use. It has the ability to recover almost all the files that you lost, no matter how badly they are damaged. It also has great customer support. However, because of the price, I would only reccomend buying this program if the files you are looking for a damaged very badly, or if you hard disk is in terrible shape.

Data Recovery Software

Data recovery software is a program that can recover files that have been corrupted by viruses or accidently deleted. This is possible because of the way your computer deletes files. When a file is deleted, it is not completely removed from your hard drive. What happens is that a link in the system registry is removed, so that your operating system "forgets" that there's a file in that particular spot, allowing you to rewrite it with something else. Data Recovery software can then find these "lost" files and reestablish all the necessary links within your system which allow you to see and use the file
